Reloved Guitars

Reloved Guitars is all about great guitar set ups regardless of brand or price – done in a way you can trust completely. My specialism is in low, light guitar set ups that play – and stay – in tune. Through close attention to nut slots, 1st fret action, neck relief, last fret action and underpinned by precision fret levelling, I’m able to make any guitar a joy to play.

This is made possible by the elegant technique I use to level frets – which I call the ‘banana method’. This method of levelling, with the strings on and the neck loaded in playing configuration, is slightly more accurate than other methods but, most importantly, it’s the only method that can deliver the necessary accuracy with the minimum of fret metal loss. Since fret metal equals playing life this is a huge improvement on all the conventional methods of fret levelling.

I’ve perfected this approach over around 1000 guitar set ups (as at the beginning of 2020) and thanks to a personalised video of each set up, customers can see and hear for themselves any chokes and buzzes in their playing action lessen and then disappear in real-time as I work on their guitars.

My YouTube channel features around 700 full-length, unedited real-time videos of customer set ups intended as a way for prospective customers to evaluate my approach and methods. The videos enable customers to send their guitars to me with confidence that they’ve chosen the right person for their job.
