Condition: Played Reloved prototype
Overview: A unique prototype (a piece of history!?) – made as a fun headless tribute to the legendary Rickenbacker 325 (with some major differences!). Featuring a chambered poplar body with ply back this is very resonant and feeds back beautifully in a controllable way. It has an upcycled SG-scale neck with brass headless headpiece and an adjustable custom Tusq nut. Pickups are Burns TriSonics and the functionality via the 325-lookalike knobs is very unlike the original! The first two knobs and the 3 way switch work like a Les Paul, controlling the neck and bridge pickups and feeding the output to the small blend pot. The middle pickup is controlled by the other two pots and the output feeds to the blend pot. There is also a push-push phase switch on one of the pots to put the middle pickup in / out of phase. The tone combinations from this custom configuration are amazing. There are a number of signs that this is a prototype; the bridge cavity (roughly hewn!), the headless tuners further back than I would do in future versions; the string retainer ‘bar’ (made from a solder kit stick) and an imperfect acrylic finish. Despite those things it’s a very unique and distinctive guitar.
