Refurb & upgrade

In the world of refurbs and upgrades, just about anything is possible! But remember only do it to make your guitar play and sound better than it did before, not in the hope of making it worth more (‘cos that’ll never happen).

Combine a full set up with upgrading parts to your heart’s content: pickups, tuners, bridge, pots, switch…wiring. Pretty much anything can be upgraded, and combined with a Reloved Guitars set up it’ll be at a discount price for the labour. There’s no set menu of prices because very few things are ‘bog standard’. Costs depend on complexity of the fitting / wiring etc.

Many customers buy Harley Bentons from Thomann and have them ship directly to me for a RG set up, various upgrades and then I send the guitar on to the customer when done.

Another thing I love doing is refurbishing old guitars with high sentimental personal value for people who will really appreciate a guitar with the mojo they remember when they were teenagers but this time combined with great tones and awesome playability. I’ve done this with several old Satellites, Columbus’s, Kays, Avons, Antorias and similar – often these are customers’ first ever guitars rescued from their attics later in life. As with upgrades, please don’t expect investment in these guitars to make them more valuable on the 2nd hand market; it simply won’t. Only spend money if it’s a guitar you love and want to keep.
