I made this guitar for two primary reasons; firstly I wanted to move up from up-cycling older, used necks to make my first neck from scratch and secondly, I wanted to test a TruOil and clear satin nitro finish combination.
The body is made from a single piece of nicely-figured sapele (African Mahogany) and the neck is also mahogany with an ebony fingerboard with EVO gold jumbo wiring. Like many guitars, I also built this around the lovely quality Gotoh ‘PRS-style’ wrap-around bridge with locking posts.
I made a couple of mistakes along the way with the neck but was able to overcome / work around them, ending up with my first hand-made neck that plays very well. The fret dot markers are large abalone ones and pretty as anything.
The pickups are once again my favourite Railhammer HyperVintage humbuckers with a simple 3 way toggle switching and independent push-push coil split switches.
The guitar is heavy and the neck volute (first volute on my first hand-made neck!) is quite pronounced but it adds to its individuality. As a player, it is very precise and accurate and easy to play thanks to a full Reloved Guitars precision fret-levelled set up; including adjustable Tusq nut.
