RG SPC – tele

Price: £275

This is another of my ‘SparePartsCasters’ – guitar put together almost entirely from parts on the spares shelves in the workshop. Many of these parts will have been donated by customers over time; so at the point of putting a guitar together I often end up combining things that might not otherwise come together. Occasionally I will buy a piece to complete the guitar (a specific bridge or pickup) but it’s rare.

This guitar is based around a Northwest Guitars black full-thickness Tele body with thru-body stringing (donated by Adam) and partnered by a ‘Fender’ style Tele neck that I inherited from Larry  and re-fretted. It may be a Fender neck, but it’s not important to me whether it is or not.

The configuration of the guitar is pretty straightforward – single coil in the bridge and single coil in the neck position with regular 3 position switching. The tuners are Guykers (inherited from Iain’s custom H-Eart build last year) and work perfectly well on this guitar.

The neck has some sanded away finish / patchy amber colour and a fine glued split in the back (see close up pics) but plays beautifully.
